What exactly makes Omni La Costa Resort & Spa so fun for families? It isn’t just one thing in particular. It’s the great water slides, splash pads, kid-friendly dining, Kidtopioa, the arcade, fine dining, great golf, an amazing spa, tennis, the great staff and more. Together, everything creates a great experience for families that want to come golf, relax, play and just get away from it all.

It starts as you drive onto the property, through the grand arched entry and meander through the winding road to the front valet drive, you just know you’ve arrived somewhere special. The Reception Staff is as friendly, as you would expect, and very often have a little something special to give to the little ones. (GolfandTravelLife.com TIP – If you check in without your gaggle in-tow, mention to the Reception Team that you have little ones with you.)

The resort has 8 pools in total but a few are exceptional. The main pool area has a rip-roar’n double tube water slide. Unfortunately for our petite 7-year old, she still doesn’t meet the 48” height requirement and it seems will have to wait until next year. But just off the bridge entrance to the main pool area is a fun Junior Slide, just thrilling enough to entertain the younger ones. The sandy, beach entrance to the shallow kids pool is the perfect place for toddlers and up, to take a dip. The large pool is only about 3 feet deep throughout. (GolfandTravelLife.com TIP: bring or purchase in the Café Store aqua shoes. The bottom of the pool is rough – great as a non-slip surface but it may lead to some abrasions.)

The deeper pool is also lots of fun and just off the splash pad. If you want to splurge, reserve a cabana and treat yourself to some shade and your own private sanctuary – still ear-shot from the whoops and hollers of the kids.

Speaking of sanctuary, we checked our kids into Kidtopia in the afternoon and enjoyed a tranquil lunch and chili mojitos, pool-side, at the Adult Pool. With its infinity edge looking over the golf course, quite ambience and swanky design, it’s the yang to the vibrant ying of the main pool area.

Saving the best for last, Kidtopia is off-the-hook fun for the little-ones. We always have a hard time getting ours to leave they enjoy it so much. Kidtopia is one of very few resorts that will take babies into their care. When our son was younger this was a godsend and allowed my wife and I the chance to have a quite, romantic dinner. Kidtopia does fill up fast, so (GolfandTravelLife.com TIP: call ahead and register your kids for the program and book the time slots you expect to use.)
